Redwood Hollow is a registered San Diego Historic Site consisting of a total of eleven cottages and duplex homes in a random garden setting. Seven cottages are now operated as a small hotel, and four are private residences. Most of the furnished cottages include a kitchen, queen-sized or king-sized bed in the bedroom(s) and a sleep sofa in the living or sitting area. The units range from studios, one bedroom, up to two bedroom, two bath cottages. Six of the units have fireplaces, and six are lined with redwood or cedar. The architecture is in the craftsman and mountain style cottage, which was popular at Southern California beach resorts early in the twentieth century.

The historical designation was given because of the setting and the beach lifestyle vacation rentals in years past. Construction was started in 1915, with the last structure completed in the late 1940s. The complex is now an oasis of quietness and greenery that still preserves the uniqueness and garden atmosphere of old La Jolla. Our cottages are close to everything that La Jolla has to offer, and just down the street from Whispering Sands Beach access.
