Redwood Hollow - La Jolla - Cottages
256 Prospect Street, La Jolla, California, USAhttp://www.redwoodhollow-lajolla.com(858) 459-8747Redwood Hollow is a registered San Diego Historic Site consisting of eleven cottages and duplex homes in a garden setting. Eight cottages are now operated as a small hotel, and three are private residences. Most of the furnished cottages include a kitchen, queen-sized or king-sized bed in the bedroom(s) and a sleep sofa in the living or sitting area. The units range from studios, one bedroom, up to two bedroom, two bath cottages. Six of the units have fireplaces, and six are lined with redwood or cedar. Organic Avocado Firewood is available for purchase. The architecture is craftsman style cottage, which was popular at Southern California beach resorts early in the twentieth century. The historical designation was given to honor the beach lifestyle and vacation rentals of years past. Construction was started in 1915, with the last structure completed in the late 1940s. It remains an oasis of quietness and greenery that still preserves the unique garden atmosphere.
